New Look to Webpage for Transition U
In October, the UPC launched our NEW Transition Planning (birth through adulthood) section on the Utah Parent Center website. Transition Planning can be found under the RESOURCES tab on the UPC’s home page. Transition ages and stages include:
- Early Intervention to preschool
- Preschool to Elementary
- Elementary to Jr. High
- Jr. High to High School
- Transition University-Adult Life/Adult Services (ages 14+)
We hope this page will connect you to transition information based on the age range of your child. While Transition University (ages 14-22) is the most robust transition page, we will continue to add additional information to other age groups in the future.
Our Transition University curriculum (ages 14-22) includes:
- Citizenship & Advocacy
- Daily Life: Education and Employment
- Community Living: Settings and Integration
- Safety & Security for the Future (guardianship, alternatives to guardianship, etc.)
- Social and Spirituality
- Healthy Living
Each one of these categories covers aspects of transition in more detail. Modules include training videos, self-advocate videos, links to our 3 NEW resource books, and so much more. We have color coded all of the sections on the website to follow along with the Choices, Successful Transition for youth with Disabilities, and the Guardianship books. In addition, our next Transition Training Classes will be held in the spring of 2022.
