SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REDESIGN FEEDBACK REQUEST
The Utah State Board of Education is requesting public (parent, student, educator, administrator, community & business members) regarding the redesign of Utah’s school accountability system.
The Utah State Legislature and the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) are partnering to reexamine the state’s school accountability system. The current Utah School Accountability System was established through S.B. 220 during the 2017 legislative session, prior to the advancement of the Personalized, Competency-Based Learning and Portrait of a Graduate initiatives. The pandemic has highlighted the dependency of the school accountability system on access to state assessment results. The state is seeking to build a new accountability system to be:
- Inclusive of the additional initiatives
- More comprehensive in evaluation criteria
- Aligned with and supportive of continuous school improvement efforts for all schools
For this work to be successful, the state needs to hear from the public on the information needed to better understand school quality. Please consider taking this survey to provide your input on the future of school accountability in Utah. The state will also offer both virtual and in-person opportunities to engage further along in the process. Thank you.
ALL ABILITIES ACTIVITY FOR TEENS AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AT THE SL PUBLIC LIBRARY
February: Celebrate Valentine’s with a fun heart puzzle piece wreath, cards to color, and other Valentine surprises. Email draref@slcolibrary.org to order your craft kit that will be ready for pickup starting February 7th.
End of February: Right now we are tentatively planning a St. Patrick’s-themed in-person event for the end of February on Friday the 25th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Registration is required, and can be done here or via email. Because we aren’t sure we will be able to have the event in person, and not all groups may be comfortable returning to the library at that point, we will offer to bring the crafts in a kit to your center or have them at the library to pick up starting March 7th. Please email me if you would like a kit for your center.
March: The County Library is hosting a system-wide event at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan, with a bunch of fun activities and crafts from the library and other partners. It will be Friday March 18th from 10 AM to 12PM. The address is 8030 S 1825 W, West Jordan, UT 84088.
April: The event will be decorating spring Peep birdhouses. We will have graham cracker birdhouses and marshmallow Peeps, with fun spring candy to decorate. This will be on Fridays April 22nd and 29th, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Because of the nature of the craft, it will be in-person only. You can register here or send me an email to get signed up.
May: Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with crafts and activities to learn about culture and history. We are inviting groups to come and share their culture on Friday, May 20th from 10 AM to 12 PM, and we’d love to have you join us. You can register here, or send me an email to sign up.
