Utah PTA is a non-profit grassroots child advocacy association made up of parents, teachers, and students. It is an affiliate of National PTA and is organized in Utah at local, council, and state levels. 

Utah PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. 

Utah PTA has a Special Needs Specialist and a Special Needs Committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from agencies and organizations that serve people with special needs as well as parents, teachers, and administrators. The committee focuses on helping students with special needs and their families be more connected, included, and supported in the school community and encourages high expectations for students with disabilities. 

Local PTAs are encouraged to have a Special Needs Specialist on their PTA boards. The Utah PTA Special Needs Specialist provides training, resources, and support for local specialists and works with the Special Needs Committee to advocate for children with disabilities and their families
