Before You Begin
How We Choose Workshops to Offer
We love to fulfill requests for our free workshops to train organizations, community groups, present at conferences, and share information and resources through an information table. To make the most impact, we focus on a few key things when committing to staff workshops, conferences and event requests.
- Target audience being specific to the disability community (parents/families, professionals, self-advocates)
- Expected attendance or crowd size
- Training event is free and open to all members of the community
- Diverse locations across the state
- Requesting organization providing space, publicity, refreshments, AV equipment

Utah Parent Center Orientation to Our Services and Programs
This brief presentation provides parents and professionals with information on the services and programs provided by the Utah Parent Center. In this presentation, participants will learn what the UPC staff can do to help them and their families.


Special Education
We offer a variety of topics centered around Special Education in order to help families navigate these often challenging and very involved paths to supporting their students.

Transitioning Between Different Life Stages
Transitioning between life stages with a disability brings specific challenges and these topics are designed to help families and individuals be as prepared as possible. Many of these workshops are created for both parents/caregivers and self advocates to attend and be involved in.

Community Support and Events
Some of our programs are specifically geared toward connecting you with your community! Check out these workshops/events:
- Speed Meeting: Events for Self-Advocates to meet other self advocates as a step toward building friendships (or more!) 18+
- SibShops: siblings of children with disabilities playing together or hanging out, guided by certified SibShop facilitators. Designed for ages 8-18.
- Family to Family Network Events: Regional events designed for families with children on the DSPD waiting list or in DSPD services in a given area to get together and share information and resources.
- New Diagnosis Support Group: monthly meeting for families navigating a new diagnosis
- Youth Advisory Board: Hosted activity or event by our Youth Self Advocates (panels, activities)
- D/HH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) WebinEars and family events for the D/HH community.
