Celebrating Value in Workforce Inclusion
October 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! This important month recognizes the valuable contributions of individuals with disabilities to the American workforce.
NDEAM started back in 1945 as a week dedicated to honoring people with physical disabilities. By 1988, Congress officially designated it as a month-long observance to highlight the significance of offering job opportunities to everyone, including those with mental health challenges and other less visible disabilities.
In 2001, the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) was established to oversee NDEAM and set the theme each year. This year, the theme is “Celebrating Value and Talent,” and it coincides with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026!
The Utah Parent Center, is an organization dedicated to supporting families of children with disabilities. We aim to empower parents with information and resources to navigate challenges and celebrate successes. This October, we are joining this campaign to honor the amazing contributions of individuals with disabilities in our workplaces and communities!
Will you join us? Who would you like to acknowledge?
