Join the Utah Parent Center Board of Directors

The Utah Parent Center is seeking thoughtful, committed leaders to serve on our Board of Directors and help advance our mission of supporting parents and families of children, youth, and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs.

For more than 40 years, the Utah Parent Center has helped families across Utah access the information, training, resources, and peer support they need to navigate complex systems and help their children lead included, productive lives. Our work is grounded in the belief that parents are essential partners in improving outcomes for children and strengthening communities.

Who We Are Seeking

We welcome candidates who share our commitment to family-centered support, disability inclusion, equity, and meaningful community participation. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring one or more of the following:

• Lived experience as a person with a disability or as a parent or family member of someone with a disability or special health care need
• Leadership experience in business, education, health care, law, finance, fundraising, communications, public policy, technology, or nonprofit governance
• Strong connections to communities that have historically experienced barriers to disability-related information and services
• A willingness to serve as an ambassador for the Utah Parent Center and help expand our relationships, visibility, and impact
• A collaborative spirit, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical and responsible governance

The Utah Parent Center values a board that reflects the diversity of the families and communities we serve. We encourage people from different geographic regions, cultures, identities, professions, and lived experiences to apply.

Board Member Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the Utah Parent Center’s mission, values, and strategic direction
• Attend and actively participate in board and committee meetings
• Provide oversight of the organization’s finances, policies, programs, and executive leadership
• Help strengthen community relationships and identify opportunities for partnership and growth
• Support fundraising and resource-development efforts in ways that align with your skills and networks
• Serve as an informed and enthusiastic ambassador for the organization
• Maintain confidentiality and disclose potential conflicts of interest
• Make the Utah Parent Center a personally meaningful philanthropic priority
• Attend bi-monthly meetings either virtually or in person
