Representation Matters

Positive representation can increase self-esteem for youth living with visible and invisible disabilities. Interpersonal contact and exposure through media representation can assist in reducing stereotypes of people living with disabilities. Representation can be a tool used to create awareness, foster understanding, and break down stereotypes.

Utah Family voices and The Utah Parent Center have partnered with The Equity Steering Committee at Primary Children’s Hospital to make sure the images they have at the hospital have more diversity and inclusion. Do you have pictures of your child in clinical or non-clinical settings that you would be willing to share? Please contact us to fill out the release of information and find out where to send those cute photos!
