What is DSPD & Why You Should Care

DSPD: Quick FAQ

1. What is DSPD?

The Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) provides home and community-based services that help eligible Utahns with disabilities live as independently as possible.

2. What services does DSPD offer?

Services may include community living supports, day services, supported employment, and other supports based on individual needs.

3. How do I apply?

Complete a DSPD Intake Packet through the DSPD intake process. The application asks for information about the person requesting services.

4. Why is there a waiting list?

DSPD services are funded through a combination of state and federal dollars, and there are more eligible people than available funding. While you’re waiting, you’ll update your Needs Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ) each year.

5. Where can I get help?

The Utah Parent Center provides free, one-on-one support to answer your questions about DSPD, the application process, and the waiting list.
