Keeping the Promise of Community Living: Supporting Safety, Choice, and Self-Determination Across a Range of Support Needs
A collaborative conference focused on practical strategies for protecting Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS, including “DSPD” services), advancing self-determination, and ensuring that people with disabilities across a range of support needs are safe and have meaningful opportunities to live, work, and thrive in their communities.
Panel Discussion
Facilitating Community Integration and Meaningful Choice Across a Range of Support Needs and Guardianship Status
Moderator: Libby Oseguera, Executive Director, Utah Developmental Disabilities Council
Panelists will include:
- A DSPD/HCBS provider
- A support coordinator/case manager
- Self-advocates and guardians/parents representing a range of support needs and guardianship arrangements
The panel will explore practical ways to promote community integration, self-determination, and meaningful choice for people with different support needs and guardianship arrangements. We hope to bring together the perspectives of self-advocates, families, providers, and others who support people with disabilities in the community.
