Our Story
How the Utah Parent Center Was Founded
The Utah Parent Center began in 1983 with parents who wanted to make sure other families did not have to navigate disability-related challenges alone. What started as parents helping parents has grown into a statewide organization serving families of children and youth with all disabilities, reaching communities across Utah.
Parent to Parent
Reaching Thousands of Families Every Year Through Parent-to-Parent Support
Today, the Utah Parent Center supports more than 10,000 families each year through one-on-one consultations, workshops, trainings, and resources. Using a proven parent-to-parent model, the Center answers over 1,200 support calls every month, helping parents feel informed, supported, and better prepared to advocate for their children.
Free for Every Family
Creating Lasting Impact Through Access, Partnership, and Growth
By keeping services free, the Utah Parent Center has been able to expand its reach and remove barriers for families across Utah. Through collaboration with schools, healthcare providers, and service systems, the Center helps improve outcomes for children and youth with disabilities, supporting families in every corner of Utah and contributing to positive change at both the individual and systems levels.
Leadership
Board of Directors
The Utah Parent Center is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors: parents, professionals, and community members who share our commitment to families of children and youth with disabilities. The Board provides strategic leadership, financial oversight, and accountability, ensuring the Center stays true to its mission of helping parents help their children across Utah.
