TITLE: DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

LOCATION: Utah Parent Center – Salt Lake Office (See address below) – The UPC is a nonprofit Parent Training and Information Center serving parents of children, youth, and young adults with all disabilities.

JOB STATUS: 20 -30 hours/week (40-60 hours/2 week pay period) hours may fluctuate to meet needs of the Center

PAY RATE:  $23.89 – 25.00 per hour/based on qualifications – includes benefit allotment

OPENING DATE: Monday, March 6, 2023  CLOSING DATE: Wednesday, March 15, 2023, or when filled with qualified candidate

 

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Utah Parent Center is seeking a part-time Development Coordinator to oversee donor and volunteer relations and coordinate all fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping build the development/volunteer department of the Utah Parent Center. The Development Coordinator is responsible to identify, cultivate and solicit donations and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. The Coordinator will also be responsible for planning and coordinating several fundraising events each year.

The Utah Parent Center, a 501c3 non-profit, is an award-winning training and information center founded in 1983 by parents of children and youth with all disabilities to help other parents facing similar challenges throughout Utah. The mission of the Utah Parent Center (UPC or Center) is to help parents help their children, youth, and young adults with all disabilities to live included, productive lives as members of the community. We accomplish our mission by providing accurate information, empathetic peer support, valuable training and effective advocacy based on the concept of parents helping parents.

The Utah Parent Center is seeking a Development Coordinator to oversee donor and volunteer relations and coordinate all fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping build the development/volunteer department of the Utah Parent Center. The Development Coordinator is responsible to identify, cultivate and solicit donations and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government  agencies. The Coordinator will also be responsible for planning and coordinating at least two fundraising events each year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, implement, and manage effective strategies to increase fundraising, including corporate gift giving, planned giving, annual giving, major gifts, and grant acquisition
  • Assist with writing grant proposals and assist with the timely and efficient reporting of activities
  • Cultivate and build long-term relationships with donors
  • Coordinate the development/volunteer department of the Utah Parent Center
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events annually
  • Develop and manage in-kind donations
  • Develop and execute new donor acquisition
  • Maintain and coordinate a development advisory committee to assist with the Utah Parent Centers fundraising efforts
  • Develop and execute a development plan
  • Collaborate with Utah Parent Center leadership to develop a successful volunteer program
  • Provide a bimonthly report to the Utah Parent Center’s governing board

GENERAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Plan projects to expand private donors and corporate giving. Initiatives include events, partnerships, and corporate / foundation grants.
  • Conduct research, identify prospects, and write grant proposals to potential partners.
  • Establish and maintain fundraising records, databases, and files as directed.
  • Donor thank you correspondence and donor relationship development.
  • Assist with coordination of in-kind donations.
  • Retrieve data and assist in the preparation of fundraising reports as directed.
  • Helps plan, coordinate, and execute the UPC’s signature fundraising events and campaigns. Flexibility in schedule and job duties are required during high need periods.
  • Assist in building relationships with businesses and efforts to solicit donations for events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL JOB RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the UPC Executive Director.
  • Works cooperatively with other Development Coordinator and all constituents of the Center, staff members, volunteers, Board members, and professionals.
  • Works as a team member with more than 45 staff in a dynamic, often demanding but rewarding work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A qualified candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) (preferred)
  • Experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business development, public relations, and corporate giving. Experience in grant writing or proposal writing. Experience with public speaking and working with the media.
  • Must be skilled in use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google products (email, Sheets, Docs, Drive). Proficient with Mac OS (preferred).
  • Has knowledge of how to write and manage corporate / foundation grants. (strongly preferred)
  • Has experience with fundraising and donor cultivation. (required)
  • Must be able to develop, schedule, and post creative marketing content for social media. (required)
  • Must have good planning, relationship building, collaboration, creativity, innovation, organizational and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Must have excellent and professional communication skills on the phone, in-person and via written communication. Position will interact with UPC Leadership team as well as Advisory Board members, donors, corporate contacts, and constituents. (required)
  • Must be comfortable presenting to donors, building relationships and networks, soliciting businesses for donations, and interacting with the public. (required)
  • Must accommodate flexible scheduling –see general job duties.
  • Must be willing/available to travel across the state as needed; use of a reliable personal vehicle is required.
